International Headache Genetics Consortium

The International Headache Genetics Consortium (IHGC) is a multinational research collaboration studying the genetic causes and background of headaches and related disorders. It aims to boost research in this area by bringing together the increasing wealth of well-characterised genetic information and high-quality diagnostic data, as well as analysis expertise, to identify genetic risk factors and their biological consequences to provide a deeper understanding of aetiology and discover new targets for drug therapy.

Consortium members include migraine research groups from Australia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the USA.
